# Google Shopping feed optimisation downloads

Use these files alongside the Hey Sage guide. The audit and test log are working documents. Only the supplemental feed template uses Merchant Center attribute headers.

## Feed audit checklist

Import `feed-audit-checklist.csv` into Google Sheets or Excel. Start with priority 1, then improve relevance and organise tests. Use the blank status, owner and notes columns to record your checks. Suggested statuses: Not checked, Needs work, Fixed, Not applicable.

The source column links to the relevant Google documentation. The final two testing rows are our practical recommendations, not Google requirements. Do not upload this checklist to Merchant Center.

## Title and image test log

Import `title-image-test-log.csv`. The first row is a completed illustrative test setup, not a real product or performance result. It shows a title-only test and a decision of Not evaluated. The actual product ID, image URLs, dates and measured metrics are deliberately empty because no test has run. Replace the example with your own product and complete those fields before testing. Do not upload the test log to Merchant Center.

Use one row per test. Keep the actual product ID unchanged. Test a different title focus or image on the existing listing rather than publishing duplicate copies of the same item. For a title-only test, enter the same real URL in both image columns. For an image-only test, keep the old and new titles identical.

Record dates as YYYY-MM-DD. Use comparable baseline and test windows with the same reporting scope, conversion action and currency. Keep a record of changes to budget, promotions, stock and bidding in the notes. Allow for conversion lag before deciding. A before-and-after comparison can be affected by seasonality and other changes; it is not automatically a controlled experiment.

Enter raw spend and conversion value in the stated currency. Do not treat an empty metric as zero. CTR is clicks divided by impressions. Conversion rate is conversions divided by clicks. ROAS is conversion value divided by spend. Leave a ratio empty when its denominator is zero or missing. Record rates consistently as decimal values, such as 0.025 for 2.5%, and apply percentage formatting in your working sheet. Record ROAS as a multiple, such as 3 for 3x. These examples explain formatting and are not performance claims. The CSV contains no formulas.

Choose Keep, Revert or Insufficient evidence only after reviewing actual outcomes. Use the reason column to explain the decision. Do not choose a winner from clicks alone.

## Supplemental feed template

`supplemental-feed-template.csv` intentionally contains headers only:

```text
id,title,description,image_link,custom_label_0
```

There are no fake product IDs, example URLs or product rows to upload accidentally. The empty template cannot change any products. Add only real rows for existing products you intend to update. Remove unused attribute columns. If different products need different fields changed, use separate sheets or carefully scoped rules. Do not assume an empty cell will clear or preserve an existing value; inspect the resulting product.

1. Create a Google Sheet with these headers. Set the ID column to **Plain text before pasting**. In Excel, import the ID column as Text. CSV files cannot preserve spreadsheet cell formatting. Check that leading zeros and long IDs survive import. Do not add an apostrophe to the exported ID value.
2. Copy each exact ID from the existing primary product source. A store SKU is suitable only if it already matches that source's product ID. Enter accurate replacement titles, descriptions, direct image URLs or labels. Keep price and stock in the existing store integration.
3. In Merchant Center, enable **Advanced data source management** under Settings > Add-ons if the Supplemental sources tab is missing.
4. Open Settings > Data sources > Supplemental sources > Add supplemental product data. Choose Google Sheets and connect your sheet. Match the primary source's language and feed label and select the primary source to link it to.
5. Check the attribute rules. Where you intend to replace existing values, use the sheet as the source for those fields. Preview or test the rules where available before applying them. Keep a copy of the original values so you can restore them.
6. Start with a small set of real products. Inspect the final processed product in Merchant Center, including its ID, title, image and unchanged price and stock. Check approval status and Needs attention after processing. Previewing rules is not product approval. A successful upload alone does not mean the product is approved or the intended values took effect.

A supplemental source updates existing products. It does not create or remove products and cannot run on its own. A simple shop can instead use a complete primary Google Sheet, but this five-column file is not a complete primary feed.

## AI-generated text and images

The template's plain `title` and `description` columns are for copy that was not created using generative AI. If you use AI-generated feed copy, use the appropriate `structured_title` and `structured_description` attributes instead, with `digital_source_type` set to `trained_algorithmic_media` and the text in the `content` sub-attribute. Configure the supported format in your feed tool or data source before uploading. The illustrative title in the test log is AI-generated and must not be pasted into the plain title column. Preserve metadata identifying AI-generated product images.
